Cards Made from Scraps

A couple of weeks ago I decided I should sit down and create some cards using scraps from retired paper. I loved (and still do love) the Sonoma paper packet with its purples, greens, and browns. Someone once said to me that, "Purple and green love each other," and I couldn't agree more.

I used several patterns from Make It from Your Heart Volumes 1 & 2, but I also came up with a couple of my own based on the pieces I was working with.

For the card below I used the negative space from a Cricut shape I'd cut out for another project. I actually used something I'd held onto to use "one of these days!"

The other thing I did was use up some old embellishments, including the Olive Mini-Medley Accents and some ribbon from the Cocoa Collection.

Stamp of the Month Blog Hop - February: Home Sweet Home

Welcome to the Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! This time we're featuring the February set Home Sweet Home, a set of 4 stamps. If you have come here from Michelle Johns’ blog, you’re in the right place! There are more than 50 Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their artwork made using the Stamp of the Month and other great CTMH products. Hopping is simple to do - just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one. The Blog Hop is a great big circle. Start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you’ll find a complete list of participating consultants here.

Off we go!

Our swap group decided to switch things up for this round. While I was assigned a card this time, I will be doing different things in the coming months. The biggest challenges for this Stamp of the Month are the size of the stamps, and then I needed to combine them with the Chantilly papers. I felt like what I would call the reverse side of all the patterns made the best color scheme for the sayings in the stamp set, so that’s what I went with. I really love these colors together, as well as the patterns.

My card is fairly simple, but with all the patterns I thought simple was best. I sometimes find it tough to fit one of the Zip Strip borders into my design, but this time I thought it worked perfectly! I love the pop of Outdoor Denim.
