I love the Baroque Borders set, but because the stamps are on the larger side, it was a bit more challenging to use them on a card. I decided making a 6x6” would be the way to go:

In creating the cluster in the lower right corner of the card I wanted to attach a piece of it to the card flap to help fill the blank space and not crowd the stamped image in the opposite corner. I chose the flower and the scalloped circle because they repeated the shape of the scalloped edge on the flap. I also stamped part of one of the images on the flap to create unity in the design.

Something I’ve been trying to do when papercrafting is to kill two birds with one stone. I was able to do just that when it came to this month’s hop. I needed a graduation card for a couple of young ladies, so I wanted to create both my swap and cards I could get in the mail to them. I felt like the “soar” sentiment from this stamp set would work perfectly, so this is what I came up with:

To create the card I distressed the edges of all the B&T with Cocoa ink. To stamp the “soar” image, I put about half of the stamp in Cocoa ink, and then I used a sponge dauber to apply Twilight ink to the other half of the stamp. I chose to use one of the patterned papers in the packet for the base of the butterflies to give them some texture. I liked how the curve in the Olive cardstock helped to give the illusion of the butterflies taking flight.

Close to My Heart has so many great card bases to choose from, so for June I chose to work with the 8” x 3 ½” Colonial White Die Cut Cards. I also decided to use a card pattern we were given at LeaderShare in Omaha back in March. I just updated it to use the Victory papers and the Life is Tweet stamp set. Here is my card:

To create the card I distressed the edges of the card base and all of the B&T with Chocolate ink. I used the sanding block to distress the edge of the Barn Red cardstock I stamped the bird first on the card, and then on the Chocolate patterned B&T. I cut this one out and used 3-D Foam Tape to pop it up. The scalloped square for the sentiment was cut out on my Cricut, and it is also popped up with 3-D Foam Tape.

If you’re a scrapbooker I’m sure you won’t be surprised when I say that I am rarely in my own photos. It just doesn’t happen without a lot of plotting and pleading by me. Well, that’s just what I did this past Easter. I got it in my head that there *would* be a family photo with me in it! I didn’t have to plead this time though – I put the tripod my husband got me for Christmas to good use and got this great shot of the three of us. I couldn’t wait to scrapbook it! I love the way our group does our swap by having an assigned paper packet each month. I think it’s made all of us get more outside the box. For April I had the Cruisin’ papers which have a fun color palette. It worked well for the sentiments in the stamp set.

I had a one of my toughest challenges yet this month. How on earth was I going to create something using mostly red, white and blue-colored papers and a stamp set full of elegant flourishes? It took a lot of scratching my head, trying different things, and changing my mind, but in the end I think I came up with a cute card.
